We're on the Monkland Canal, up at Castle Street, in Townhead, the year is 1963, and we're looking towards the domes of the Royal Infirmary, and the spire of Glasgow Cathedral.

If you didn't know it was Glasgow, you could be forgiven for thinking we were in such a watery wonderland as Bruges, or Amsterdam.

Within a few years, this section of the canal would vanish under the Townhead Interchange.
